Hospital district of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) has developed a solution called Health Village with Innofactor as the long-time partner on developing the underlying unified technology platform. Health Village is an online service that provides custom health and welfare services. In Finland, Health Village is visited by 300,000 users each month. "We are now looking for partners to launch Health Village in Norway," says Ken Robert Løken, Head of Innofactor's Health Initiative in Norway.

The Health Village E-Health Solution is a tool for both healthcare professionals and patients. The solution allows healthcare professionals to design digital care paths customized for different patient groups. The digital care paths make care more transparent and engaging for the patients, while also enabling better communication among healthcare professionals and patients and, not least, more effective courses of treatment.

The technology enables remote follow-up where specialist medicine is brought for patients at home. "With some patient groups the solution allows for efficiency improvement of more than 50 percent compared to current practice," Løken emphasizes. Health Village is being continuously evaluated and developed in collaboration with universities and research institutions.

Smartly constructed

Health Village comprises more then 30 virtual houses, each with its own patient group. You can find a house that fits your own diagnosis. It may be helpful for pain, psychological and weight problems or rehabilitation.

The information is understandable, reliable and available regardless of time and place. The virtual houses support self-care and monitoring of medical treatment through online services and self-help guides, service consultation, apps and mobile technology.

Forward-looking

Future patients want a safer everyday life. Already today patients expect to be involved when decisions have to be made about when and how their own care will take place. The wide range of medical information online has changed the traditional relationship between patient and caregiver.

"That is precisely why health and welfare organizations must think in a completely new way – and this is where Health Village can play a major role," says Løken.
